In 1946 Tom Mascaro invented the Aerifier. It became an immediate success.
Home made hollow tine punchers were being tested.
The West Point Aerifier became the standard for all Golf Courses.
When golf greens became softer with aerification Tom Mascaro invented a self propelled aerifier for greens. This was called the West Point FG-1.
Punchers were being tested for golf green aerification.
The rose progger was imported from England as a hollow tine puncher. This machine was a converted printing press.
The above photographs are from a collection of slides that John Mascaro uses in a slide presentation entitled "the History of Turfgrass Maintenance". John is available for speaking engagements for local Golf Course Superintendents associations as well as Allied Association Trade Shows, Colleges and Universities.
