The hexagon shape causes the plugs in the repaired area to interlock and remain in place even on sloped areas. This tool will cut a hexagon shaped piece of turf grass 7 inches across and to a depth of 2 inches or 3 inches deep depending on the model. Several of the cut segments (plugs) will stack within the body of the repair tool.

The bottom of the cut segment can be trimmed or scalped to ensure level replacement of turf with the hex plugger trowel that is included with each unit.
